Jonathan Clark


Clinical Director of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy



Since graduating from the University of the West of England in 2009, Jonathan quickly excelled to become a Specialist Physiotherapist for the NHS, working alongside NHS Consultants in the management of patients with complex musculoskeletal conditions.


He has gained vital Sports Physiotherapy experience working at Bristol City Football Club then Southampton Football Club Academy, treating and rehabilitating the upcoming football stars of the future.


He is now the Clinical Director of Jonathan Clark Physiotherapy Ltd, which he established in 2014, operating at 4 clinics across Hampshire. His team are responsible for not only treating members of the general public, but the University of Southampton’s staff, students, gym members, national standard bursary athletes and his company is recognised by major private medical insurers including BUPA, Nuffield Health, WPA, Simply Health, Aviva, Cigna, and Vitality Health.


In his experience, he has developed an array of Physiotherapeutic skills to effectively help treat a wide diversity of patients. He has also embarked on specialist training in the provision of Acupuncture and since completion of his training, has become a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.


Jonathan likes to stay on the cutting edge of evidence-based Physiotherapy treatments and will always tailor his treatments to your individual needs, utilising his specialist knowledge and experience to best manage your condition and ensure you’re on the road to recovery.


In his spare time, Jonathan likes to keep fit at the gym, loves to Snowboard, is focused upon the Palaeolithic way of eating and finds himself routinely treating members of the family at social occasions!


Ricky Attfield

Clinical Sport & Remedial Massage Therapist



Since graduating from Solent University in 2004, Ricky has gathered a wealth of knowledge and understanding about the body and musculoskeletal system. He worked for many years as Personal Trainer, a Fitness Instructor and a Swimming Teacher. He currently works as a Sports Coach and a Clinical Sport & Remedial Massage therapist and has now joined Jonathan at his clinic based at the University of Southampton.


Ricky studied at the London School of Sports Massage and graduated with an ISRM / BTEC (Level 5) Professional Diploma in Clinical Sport & Remedial Massage Therapy, allowing him to work to the highest level within the industry.


Ricky has had a passion for sport and the body since his youth when he swam competitively for his county and went on to be selected to join the National swimming squad. He has used his knowledge and experience to advise others in the field of sport and fitness, including health and nutrition. Through his experience and training, Ricky has learnt about the importance of massage therapies for rehabilitation and performance enhancement in competitive and recreational sports.


Ricky has developed an array of skills and techniques to effectively treat a wide range of patients, from elite athletes with sporting injuries to people from all walks of life with postural imbalances and soft tissue injuries. Ricky is highly professional and the quality and care he provides ensures the patients are as comfortable as possible while promoting quick and effective recovery to any injury scenario.


In his spare time, Ricky enjoys keeping fit and healthy, he always makes time for family and friends and gets a great deal of pleasure in entertaining people. He has travelled to many beautiful countries, dived with sharks, done a sky dive, bungee jump and worked on a ski season.


Jorge Rodriguez


Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist



Jorge qualified as a Physiotherapist from the University of Málaga in 2004 and spent some time training in Finland (North Karelia Polytechnic). Since then, he has worked in different private clinics in Spain, as well as with football teams, at national tennis tournaments, running competitions and in a thalassotherapy centre, therefore he has gained a lot of experience in sports massage. Jorge believes that a holistic approach is the best way to provide effective treatment and the primary reason he studied Physiotherapy was to have the opportunity to help people through his work, which Jorge finds very gratifying.


In 2007 he studied a postgraduate degree in Aquatherapy, Therapeutic Exercise Prescription and Hydrotherapy Services at the National School of Aquatherapy, in Spain. He also spent three years studying a Masters in Osteopathy at the Madrid School of Osteopathy. He also has experience in the following areas; Propioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, Knee Rehabilitation for Physiotherapy, Head and Upper Limb Rehabilitation, Ankle Rehabilitation, Syndromes and Rheumatic Illnesses; Spine, Thorax and Lower Limb Rehabilitation, Muscle-tendon Injuries, Prevention & Therapeutic Method, Major Sports injuries, Pilates for Physiotherapists.


Jorge has always been interested in sports such as running, cycling, swimming, rugby and basketball, but football has been his main sport since he was younger. Nowadays his interests are swimming, trekking, dancing, digital marketing and social media management, alongside further study to increase his knowledge and skills in the Physiotherapy profession.

David Wilson


Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist



Since graduating from the University of Plymouth in 2008, Dave worked in the NHS for 5 years, becoming a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. In the summer of 2014, he left the NHS to take up the challenge of a PhD on lower limb injury prevention, an area he had become interested in through his clinical work. He feels that being able to combine and apply research into his clinical practice is extremely important.


Dave has gained Sports Physiotherapy experience working at Plymouth Albion Rugby Team and has attended several postgraduate courses, including the study of movement dysfunction. Before becoming a Physiotherapist, he completed a Sports Science degree from the University of Brighton, which has been useful in exercise prescription for clients.


During his clinical experience Dave has sought to further his knowledge by keeping up to date with current evidence and critical appraisal of research to improve his clinical skills and to ultimately better help people achieve their goals.


Dave is very active including cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats, however, he spends more time off road these days. He has completed a few half marathons and a mini triathlon, is into various water sports and hitting the snowboard slopes in the winter.

Thomas Gray


Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist


Since graduating from Keele University in 2007, Tom has accumulated a wealth of musculoskeletal knowledge and experience in a range of physiotherapy areas. These have included working in the NHS in Hampshire and Essex and in various private practices over the past two years.


Tom has a specialist interest in Rheumatological conditions including Rheumatoid Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis and has worked closely alongside Rheumatology consultants at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, through which he has developed close ties. This also led to a specialist interest in the use of hydrotherapy in the management of acute and chronic conditions. More recently, Tom has played a role in the development of the hydrotherapy content for an exercise prescription software and has a passion for service development.


Tom has developed a network with local orthopaedic consultants who he regularly liaises with regarding appropriate patients. Tom enjoys keeping up to date with continuing professional development and is active in seeking ongoing learning opportunities to benefit his patients.


He has also gained vital Sports Physiotherapy experience working at Basingstoke Rugby Club and Portsmouth Football Club Academy, as well as acquiring specialist training in the biomechanical assessment of runners.


Outside of physiotherapy, Tom enjoys photography and sport, including football, cycling and running.

Anna O’Connell


Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist



Anna graduated from the University of Southampton with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and is the most recent member to join our team at Jonathan Clark Physiotherapy.


Having spent some years living abroad in Dubai, Anna has experienced life in a multicultural environment and thus has a flexible approach to treating a diverse client base. Professional and proactive, Anna aims to prioritise the needs of patients, making treatment specific and functional. Using a fresh and innovative approach to rehabilitation, she strives to facilitate recovery and minimise the risk of future injuries.


Anna looks forward to further developing her clinical skills at Jonathan’s clinic, along with undertaking an array of courses to facilitate her practice, boost her professional knowledge and ultimately enhance the delivery of effective treatment to her patients.


Anna is a keen sportswoman and places a strong emphasis on personal fitness, striving to share the value and advantages of a healthy lifestyle with her patients. Why don’t you follow her on our BLOG?! She is a distance charity runner and is currently training for her second half marathon.  She loves to ski and enjoys keeping fit at the gym.

Rochelle Dunster


Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist



Rochelle graduated from the University of the West of England in 2013 with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy. Prior to this she completed a foundation qualification in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation. Whilst at University, Rochelle gained invaluable experience in massage, attaching herself to the University teams to treat their high-level athletes when injured.


She currently works in the NHS and has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.  She has treated a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions both on dry land and in the hydrotherapy pool. She has also had the opportunity to work in one of the largest trauma centres in the country, therefore has invaluable experience in rehabilitating patients following pioneering orthopaedic surgeries.


Musculoskeletal physiotherapy has become a quick passion for Rochelle. She intends to continue this interest and expand her knowledge whilst working alongside Jonathan at his Fareham clinic.


Rochelle is a big sports fan – yet football has never made it into her top 5! She has had a passion for sport since a young and played hockey at a county level. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling and has visited an array of countries. She enjoys keeping fit by following her own tailored exercise programmes and spending as much time as she can with her family.

Ellen Shepherd


Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist



After completing a MSc in Sports Science, Ellie went on the complete her MSc in Physiotherapy, graduating from the University of Southampton. Ellie successfully secured her first post at Solent NHS trust, where she now treats a wide diversity of patients. She demonstrates a passion for musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and thus recently joined Jonathan at his clinic at Knightwood Leisure Centre, where she intends to develop her skills in the musculoskeletal field.


Due to her sporting interests, Ellie completed a diploma in Sports Massage in 2014 and has undergone many courses exploring the latest techniques in sports rehabilitation, which she applies to better her clinical practice and ensure patients recover from injury. She proves dedicated to treating each client as an individual, ensuring they reach their full potential.


Ellie has always had a keen interest in sport and has dabbled in Horse Riding, Triathlon, Cycling and is a qualified Personal Trainer.

Liam Newton


Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist



Liam graduated from the University of Birmingham with a MSc in Physiotherapy, prior to successfully completing a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science from Nottingham Trent University. He currently works with the NHS as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist treating a wide range of conditions, and joined Jonathan’s team in April 2016.


Liam has a real passion for providing the highest possible level of musculoskeletal care and draws upon his skills from his previous degree and experience working with Aston Villa Ladies FC to ensure every patient receives the highest level of care. Clinically, Liam has a real interest in holistic movement patterns, sports rehabilitation and applying the latest research into his practice, allowing him to tailor each patient’s rehabilitation to their specific goals.


Growing up Liam was a keen sportsman representing his county at age group cricket and football. Cricket remains a strong passion of Liam’s he is a keen cyclist, enjoys keeping fit and exploring the world!

Samy Roshdy


Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist



Samy is our latest addition to the team having just graduated from the University of Southampton with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy.

Samy has already attained an array of experience, having worked within various sporting teams, such as the: Portsmouth FC academy team, rugby and football teams at the University of Southampton, in addition to providing weekly assistance in the diagnosis and treatment of high-performance athletes at Southampton Solent University. Samy has further enhanced his therapeutic skills through sport massage experiences such as assisting with the provision of massage for the New Zealand Defence Armed Forces Rugby Team on their world cup tour, as well as at various running events; such as the Reading Half Marathon.

Samy always aims to further enhance his clinical skills and knowledge base and looks forward to joining Jonathans’ clinics. He has worked as a student throughout various hospitals within Hampshire, gaining invaluable experience and treating critically acutely ill patients, as well as those presenting with chronic and complex pathologies. Samy believes communication and a breadth of knowledge is paramount in facilitating recovery and aims to provide a positive environment for the effective rehabilitation of his patients. He aims to continue developing his musculoskeletal knowledge through attending courses, in addition to networking with specialised and experienced clinicians to further develop himself as a musculoskeletal therapist.

Samy has always been interested in staying physically fit at the gym, as well as maintaining an avid interest in football. He thoroughly enjoys spending time with his friends and family. Having volunteered with underprivileged children in Cape Town, South Africa in 2013 and travelled around Western Europe last summer, he aims to continue to travel the globe and tick off as many countries as possible!

Kerry Jones


Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist



Since graduating from Bournemouth University in 2010, Kerry has worked in the NHS for over 6 years becoming a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. She continues to work part time within this role, allowing her to continue to work alongside the orthopaedic consultants on the ward and in clinics.


Throughout her career she has had a varied caseload having experience within respiratory care, neurology, orthopaedics, women’s health, hydrotherapy, specialist hand clinics and generic musculoskeletal outpatients. The majority of Kerry’s experience has come from working within a major trauma centre for the South of England, rehabilitating major trauma patients suffering from multiple injuries.  Treating these patients from critical ward care right through to the hydrotherapy pool and outpatient dry land. Kerry’s current role also involves treating the University Hospital of Southampton staff members.


In addition to her NHS Career, Kerry has worked within the private sector. This has included working in a gym alongside personal trainers as well as within an orthopaedic hospital setting. Kerry encountered a wide range of clients within these roles allowing her to develop a more holistic approach to her treatment.


Kerry has attended training and conferences over the years to further her knowledge and improve her practice to ensure she is able to provide her clients with the best care and evidenced based treatment plans.


Kerry has always had a passion for sport and has played netball at County level and currently plays in Southampton’s Premier division. Her additional interests have included cycling, surfing and recently completing a half marathon. Kerry looks forward to beating her personal best at her next half marathon and is currently training for this.

Annabel Pelham


Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist



Annabel trained at St George’s, University of London and graduated in 2008.  She gained several years experience as a junior and senior within the NHS, specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, as well as working within orthopaedics and neurological rehabilitation. She has has since largely worked privately, broadening her clinical skills and experience.


Annabel has completed post graduate courses in manual therapy, clinical Pilates, acupuncture and Women’s Health, as well as gaining clinical experience in occupational health and ergonomic assessments, and dizziness.  Her treatment is focused on reducing pain and dysfunction, and well as getting to the root of the problem and looking at longer term management strategies.


Annabel has recently moved to Wessex, living in Cowes and dividing her time between island living and working in Southampton.  Outside work Annabel enjoys yoga, keeping fit, cooking and foreign travel.

Carolina Santos


Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist

Carolina qualified as a Physiotherapist from the Red Cross University in Lisbon in 2014. Her final semester of university was spent training in a hospital in Warsaw, Poland.


She specialised in the musculoskeletal field early on, gaining vital experience in neuro-rehabilitation, orthopaedics, hand therapy, chronic lower back pain, neck pain and sporting injuries, working from a private clinic in the South of Portugal and a private hospital in the Algarve.


Carolina has always been a sports lover, such as football, badminton, basketball, padel, but tennis is the sport in which she’s been competing in since she was 12 years old.


In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing board games, spending time with her family and friends, and exploring the world travelling!
